Concerts in Kotor with Leonidas Kavakos and Martin Grubinger

After her exciting performances at the Verbier Festival, Yuja Wang will travel to Kotor for two performances at the KotorArt International Festival.

The first concert, entitled Music Titans, will include her long time musical collaborator, violinist Leonidas Kavakos. The concert will be held in the Church of the Holy Spirit on August 7, with a thrilling program including Mozart’s Violin Sonata in B flat, Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 1, Bartók’s Rhapsody No. 1, and Strauss’ Violin Sonata in E flat. The duo previously toured together receiving rave reviews:

“Wang and Kavakos have a chemistry. She often dominated with the sheer power of her playing, but he was responsible for the subtle fluidity that makes their collaboration exceptional.” (Los Angeles Times)

For her second performance, Ms. Wang will be joined by percussion virtuoso, Martin Grubinger, in a Wizards of Sound concert. On August 8 at the Vida Matjan Concert Hall, the program will include Stravinsky’s formidable The Rite of Spring as well as Bartók’s Sonata for Two Pianos arranged for piano and percussions. Both artists collaborated in an electrifying concert together in Beijing, which is available via Medici.tv:
