Festival Tour with the Staatskapelle Dresden

Yuja Wang begins her 2019/20 season joining the Staatskapelle Dresden and conductor Myung-Whun Chung on a festival tour to Dublin, London, Gstaad, and Bucharest. For the performances, Yuja will perform one of Rachmaninoff’s most frequently performed opuses – his Piano Concerto No. 3, known as one of the most challenging piano concertos. Completing the program, Maestro Myung-Whun Chung leads the ensemble in Brahms’ genial Symphony No. 2, whose freshness and spontaneity have drawn comparisons with Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony.

The tour kicks off with two sold-out performances on August 31 and September 1 at the Staatskapelle Dresden’s home venue, the Semperoper. The following concerts will take place on September 4 at the National Concert Hall, part of the NCH International Concert Series; on September 5 at Royal Albert Hall, part of the BBC Proms (listen to the Proms live on Radio 3); on September 6 at the Festival-Zelt Gstaad, part of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival; and the final concert on September 8 at the Sala Palatului, part of the George Enescu Festival (live broadcast available via Radio Romania on September 8 beginning at 19:30 (GMT+3).
