Yuja Wang begins the new year on tour with Gautier Capuçon, performing ten recitals throughout Europe to promote their new duo album released by Warner Classics (Erato). Ms. Wang first collaborated with Mr. Capuçon at the Verbier Festival in 2013, and have since garnered major critical acclaim on their recital tour throughout the United States and Canada last season:
“Capuçon and Wang share a similar vigor and alert spontaneity that make it seem as if they are finishing each other’s phrases. The French cellist plays with a robust intensity that brings out drama from even the most delicate of works … Wang proved a subtle and thoughtful partner … It seemed that the two had been playing together for a lifetime.” (The Classical Review)
Tour dates include January 6 at the Schloss Elmau in Krün; January 7 at Die Glocke in Bremen; January 8 at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie; January 10 at Salle Molière in Lyon; January 11 at Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence; January 13 at Barbican Centre in London; January 14 at the Herkulessaal in Munich; January 17 at the Wiener Konzerthaus; January 19 at the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus; and January 20 at the Philharmonie de Paris. Later in the season, they will return to the United States for performances in Santa Barbara on April 27 and San Francisco on April 28.
