International recital tour with Leonidas Kavakos

Yuja Wang and violinist Leonidas Kavakos reunite early in 2017 for a multi-city international recital tour, which takes them across Europe and on to the United States. They begin in Italy, in performance at Pinerolo’s Accademia di Musica (January 29), followed by the Philharmonie de Paris (January 30), and the BASF – Feierabendhaus Ludwigshafen (January 31). The duo then presents recitals at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf (February 1), Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional (February 2), Stockholm’s Konserthuset (February 4), and the Prinzregententheater in Munich (February 5).

Ms. Wang and Mr. Kavakos travel to the US for the second leg of their tour later in February, with performances at The Strathmore in North Bethesda (February 7), Benaroya Hall in Seattle (February 10), La Jolla’s Balboa Theatre (February 11), Costa Mesa’s Segerstrom Center for the Arts (February 12), and The Granada Theatre at University of California – Santa Barbara (February 13).

Recital programmes feature a rotating selection of works, including Schubert’s Fantasy in C Major, D 934; Janáček’s Sonata, JW 7/7; Debussy’s Violin Sonata in G Major, L. 140; and Bartók’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in C-sharp minor, Sz. 75, BB 84. In Munich and Stockholm, Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No.7 in C minor will be performed in lieu of the Bartók.

Kavakos and Wang have previously toured around the globe to critical acclaim, and are also featured on a Decca Classics release of works by Brahms:
