Liszt and Mahler with San Francisco Symphony

On January 27, 28 and 29, Yuja Wang will join Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony for a concert featuring works by Liszt and Brahms.

Considering him a great mentor, Ms. Wang has enjoyed a strong musical relationship with the conductor. Together they have frequently appeared with the San Francisco Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra and New World Symphony.

The program will begin with Franz Liszt’s dazzling Piano Concerto No. 1, a work that took the composer 26 years and several revisions to complete. A signature piece in her repertoire, Ms. Wang will again perform it with the New York Philharmonic in weeks to come. The concert will then conclude with the orchestra’s performance of Mahler’s marvelous First Symphony, also known as the ‘Titan Symphony’.
