Residency in Hong Kong


Yuja Wang launches the fall season with several performances in Hong Kong, hosted at the Cultural Centre Concert Hall. On September 1 & 2 she plays Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Hong Kong Philharmonic and Maestro Jaap van Zweden, on a programme that also features Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. The performances serve as the season openers for the HKPhil. On September 6, she is joined by violinist Jing Wang, violist Andrew Ling, and cellist Richard Bamping for “Yuja & Friends: A Chamber Night.” They evening includes Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50 and Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25.

Her final concerts of the series are a reunion with van Zweden and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. Ms. Wang is featured as soloist on Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2, with the second half of the concert including Mahler’s Symphony No. 5.
