World Premiere of Lindberg’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in San Francisco


On October 13, 14 and 15, Yuja Wang returns to San Francisco as she joins Esa-Pekka Salonen and the San Francisco Symphony for the world premiere of Magnus Lindberg’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Commissioned by a group of six ensembles (including the SF Symphony), this 35-minute virtuosic concerto was written with Ms. Wang in mind, with her assured technique, musical sensitivity, and captivating stage presence having inspired the Finnish composer throughout the compositional process. Carl Nielsen’s ‘Helios’ Overture and Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra frame the program.

Ms. Wang will bring Lindberg’s new concerto to several cities in the near future including New York and Toronto.  Promising to be a unique and thrilling aural experience for audiences worldwide, you won’t want to miss Ms. Wang’s performance of this tailor-made work.
