Yuja Wang and Leonidas Kavakos tour through Europe

Beginning on January 16, Yuja Wang tours with her esteemed colleague, violinist Leonidas Kavakos, through Europe. The duo has an extensive history of great performances, with the Los Angeles Times praising a previous collaboration: “Wang made otherworldly tremolos and trills glitter like stars in the night sky. Kavakos’ tone has the character of striking high-grade silver sinew, ever beautiful, graceful and unbreakable, the ideal sound for Schubertean lyricism.”

The frequent recital partners bring a program consisting of Mozart’s Sonata in B flat, Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 1, Bartók’s Rhapsody No. 1 for violin and piano, and Strauss’ Violin Sonata in E flat for all performances. Tour dates include their first performance on January 16 at Schloss Elmau in Krün; January 17 at the Prinzregententheater in Munich; January 18 at the Royal Festival Hall in London; January 19 at the Konzerthaus Dortmund; January 20 at the Wiener Konzerthaus, and concluding on January 21 at the Kölner Philharmonie.

Here’s an interview with Leonidas Kavakos about their collaboration:

Shortly after their tour they will appear together part of Ms. Wang’s season-long Perspectives Series at Carnegie Hall on February 6.  For more information on Yuja’s Perspectives series visit: carnegiehall.org/wang.
