On February 17, 18 and 19, Yuja Wang will make her debut with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks for a concert at the new Isarphilharmonie Concert Hall. It will feature thrilling works by Dvořák, Liszt and Nielsen under the baton of the illustrious Sir Antonio Pappano.
The program will begin with Dvořák’s Othello, op. 93 which is a concert overture based on the jealous relationship between Othello and Desdemona in Shakespeare’s famous play. Featuring Ms. Wang dynamic playing, the next selection will be Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat major. Concluding the program will be Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, also known as “The Inextinguishable”, which was written during World War I and has an overarching theme focusing on the strength of life force.
