The music of Bartók and Brahms illuminates the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas on October 6, 8 & 9, as Yuja Wang and a tremendous roster of soloists perform with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Jaap van Zweden. Ms. Wang plays Bartók’s thrilling Piano Concerto No. 3, on a programme which also includes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem). Soloists Lisette Oropesa and Matthias Goerne, along with the Dallas Symphony Chorus, are featured on the Requiem. Please note ticket availability is becoming limited for these performances.
Yuja performs Bartók’s Third Concerto again this autumn, with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and conductor Krzysztof Urbanski. The concerts take place October 13 & 15, and also feature Grieg’s Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”). On October 20, 21 & 22 Ms. Wang again plays a Bartók concerto. This time it’s the composer’s First, at Severance Hall with the legendary Cleveland Orchestra, under the baton of Jakub Hrůša. Additional works presented by the Orchestra on this series include Martinů’s Parables and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor.
