Yuja Wang plays Bartók in China and Taiwan

To launch the new year, Yuja Wang returns to Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) as part of her season-long residency, for two concerts with the NCPA Orchestra and Maestro Lu Jia. Ms. Wang performs Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 2 on January 6, on an evening that highlights Kodály’s Dances of Galanta and Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78 (“Organ”). On January 7 she plays Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3, part of a programme that also includes the works by Kodály and Saint-Saëns mentioned above.

Following her engagements in Beijing, Yuja performs Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on January 13 at Taipei’s National Concert Hall with the Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra. Shao-Chia Lü leads the concert, which additionally features Brett Dean’s From Melodious Lay and Shostakovich’s powerful Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, Op. 47. Ticket holders are also welcome to attend an NSO Chatroom event with Ms. Wang on January 12 at the Rehearsal Studio. Yuja and the NSO then travel to Taichung for a concert at the National Taichung Theater on January 14, featuring the same program.
